Summer of Scams

In the past couple weeks, we have become aware of two aggressive scams in Northern Colorado targeted at taxpayers:
  • Telephone calls purportedly from the IRS on fraud and collection matters
  • An official-looking mailing about annual shareholder meetings
If you receive one of these phone calls, simply hang up.  The IRS NEVER initiates contact with a taxpayer by phone.  If there is a collection matter or tax audit, you will always be notified in writing via US mail first.  Be sure to provide us copies of those mailings since we are never notified unless you execute a Power of Attorney to authorize the IRS to share that information with us.

As the owner of a Colorado corporation, you may have received an official-looking notice about annual shareholder meetings and minutes.  The most recent notice we are aware of is coming from a company named Compliance Services out of Fort Collins.

We have no idea who they are, they operate from a PO Box and they are certainly NOT affiliated with the State of Colorado.

Whatever service they are proposing to do for $125, you can do yourself for free.  Be sure to discuss this with your attorney.

If you ever have a question, do not hesitate to give us a call.  We will never send a bill for questions that we can simply answer over the phone or via email.  There is no need for you to fall victim to a tax and accounting scam.

We are here to serve and protect!
